A historical survey of how the New Zealand house has evolved over the last hundred years. The good simple houses of the early pioneers, the Victorian elaborations, and the trend again to simplicity in the modern house. This is followed by a survey of the housing position in New Zealand as it was in 1946. The difficulties of shortages in labour and material are discussed and the New Zealand State housing project is shown in some detail together with details for future towns.
