Pacific Steel Castings Odor hearing February 12, 2008
This particular Berkeley City Council hearing was called by Councilmember Linda Maio who filed her own complaint to BAAQMD over PSC’s off-site odors.
She has represented the area of Berkeley where the steel foundry operates for more than two decades. This is the same elected official, who just more that a year ago earlier, praised the steel foundry for abating its odor nuisances.
Then after nearly 300 workers showed up at the city council meeting, Maio quickly retreated from her public stance over the stink, preferring to remove her item from the city agenda and public discussion. Not surprising that the odor nuisances and toxic emissions continue…
