  • A bit of a long overdue video but finally its here. I present to you, the Great Lakes Central (GLC) Railway Petoskey to Fife Lake, Michigan Fall Color Tour. The GLC is a Class 2 railroad running from Petoskey, Michigan down to Durand, Michigan. The trees didn’t seem to be as vibrant and many were still green. However, as we approached Boyne City and Boyne Falls near Boyne Mountain, the color turns a little orange along the mountains and hillsides. Sit back and relax for about 45 minutes or so and listen to GLC 395 blow its horn through the small towns and villages measuring in sizes of only 200 people in some cases. The coach I was riding in was an ex-Metra bi-level now painted into a now somewhat defunct MiTrain commuter scheme. At 44:19, we ride in a former C&O Dining car on the Fife Lake Countryside Tour side-trip. The song during the C&O Dining car clip is “Kevin Macleod – Olde Timey”. I put it there due to the immense amount of talking at a close distance. Sorry about the shaky camera work, my hand isn’t the steadiest and the track wasn’t that smooth at all.

    MiTrain was a planned commuter line from Ann Arbor to Detroit, Michigan. The fleet consisted of ex-GO Transit F59PHs and ex-Metra bi-levels. However, due to numerous financial issues, the plan was put on the waiting list and there haven’t been any plans recently to put the commuter line back on track. One locomotive has been sent west for a different state rail line. The coaches I think are staying with the Steam Railroading Institute at Owosso, Michigan.
